Why I Use Elementor Pro on Every Build (and Disable Gutenberg Without Regret)

WordPress gives you options. And like a buffet, some are better than others.

Gutenberg? Meh. I pass every time.

Elementor Pro, on the other hand? That’s my go-to. Every site I build runs on it – and no, it’s not because I’m lazy or obsessed (okay maybe a little). It’s because it actually works – for me and for my clients.

Here’s why I lean on Elementor Pro, why I send Gutenberg straight to the recycling bin, and how this combo keeps your site lean, fast, and not a hot mess on mobile.

😬 First Things First: Why I Disable Gutenberg

No shade if you love it – but Gutenberg is not my vibe.

It’s blocky, clunky, and great for… writing a blog post. That’s about it.

But when I’m building entire sites? Headers, footers, custom layouts, post templates, mobile versions – I need real tools. Not a box of Lego bricks that may or may not stack right.

So I shut Gutenberg off completely on every site I build. No regrets. No confusion. No weird spacing bugs at 2am.

💻 Why I Stick with Elementor Pro

There’s a reason I’ve used Elementor on every site for the last forever:

Total layout control
No fighting with themes or templates – I can build whatever I want, wherever I want it.

Theme Builder = no more Frankensteining templates
I create your headers, footers, blog archives, and 404 pages from scratch – so everything feels consistent (and actually matches your brand).

Global design settings
One place to set your fonts, colors, spacing. Fewer surprises. Less chaos.

Dynamic content that doesn’t make your head explode
Great for blogs, portfolios, testimonials, you name it. I set it up once – you just fill in the blanks.

Custom breakpoints & device previews
One of my favorite perks: I can fine-tune layouts for mobile and tablet with way more control than most builders give. Because if your site doesn’t work on a phone, what’s the point?

Way fewer plugins
Elementor Pro handles forms, popups, sliders, and even embeds – so we skip the plugin buffet and keep things faster, leaner, and more secure.

🛠 How I Build (Behind the Scenes)

  • I always use the Hello Elementor theme – it’s basically a blank canvas, which means fewer files, faster loads, and no fluff.
  • I write custom CSS & JS using Elementor’s built-in tools – no extra plugins, no drama.
  • I obsessively check mobile layouts so everything looks right, no matter the screen size.
  • And if a client really wants to use some bloated theme from Themeforest? I’ve rebuilt plenty of them inside Hello to get the same look – just without the mess.

🧠 Final Thoughts

Gutenberg has its place. That place is not my workflow.

Elementor Pro + Hello theme = clean, fast builds that don’t require a manual to edit. It gives me creative control, gives you update flexibility, and skips the 13-plugin Jenga tower just to change a headline.
