Why You Still Need a Web Developer (Even When AI Can Build Websites)
We’re living in wild times. AI can write code, whip up design layouts, and even “build” a website for you in about 90 seconds. Soooo… do you even need a web developer anymore?
Yep. You do. And here’s why.
🧠 AI is a tool — not a strategist
Sure, AI can crank out a homepage. But it doesn’t know your business, your audience, or your goals. It won’t ask if your call-to-action is in the right place or if your navigation makes sense. It’s fast – not smart.
A good web developer doesn’t just build pages – they help build the experience. That includes things like user flow, accessibility, messaging, and performance. Plus, you’re not just getting a one-time page drop – you’re building a relationship with someone who actually cares about your success (hi, that’s me 👋).
🧱 Templates aren’t enough
Most AI tools use cookie-cutter layouts. They might look fine at first glance, but they’re not built around your content, branding, or actual strategy. The result? Your site ends up blending in instead of standing out.
And yes – I use templates too! But they’re a starting point, not a boundary. I customize and refine every detail to make sure your site feels like yours, not like the tenth copy of a “clean & modern” layout. You’ll never get boxed in working with me.
🛠️ Troubleshooting? You’re on your own
When something breaks on an AI-built or DIY platform, there’s no real help desk – just vague forums and a chatbot who swears it understands your problem (it doesn’t).
I use AI tools too, they help speed up repetitive tasks, but when it comes to real-world problem-solving or making judgment calls, nothing beats having a human you trust in your corner.
And hey – if you’re already using a builder like Squarespace or Wix and feeling stuck or limited, I’m fluent in both. I can jump in, clean things up, and help you get the most out of the platform – no judgment. Not everyone is ready to make the leap, and that’s totally okay.
✅ TL;DR: AI can help, but it can’t replace human strategy
Think of AI as your assistant – not your architect. If you want a site that’s fast, functional, and actually works for your goals, you still want a developer in the mix.
Not sure where to start? I offer both hourly help and monthly maintenance plans, so whether you need a one-time tune-up or ongoing support, you’ve got options – and a human to call when things get weird.
